TOCU

TOCU are dedicated to fighting crime on buses, bus routes including red-route enforcement, tackling illegal taxi-touts and assisting in the control of traffic congestion.

The Transport Operational Command Unit (TOCU) was established as the result of an agreement between the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) and Transport for London (TfL). This unique partnership sees the TOCU funded by TfL, but remain part of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)

Implementation of the Private hire Vehicles (London) Act 1998 commenced in January 2001 with the introduction of operator licensing. There are approximately 2300 licensed private hire operators throughout the London area offering a variety of services including minicabs, limousines and chauffeur driver vehicles.
